  2. Alert Kindle owners about new LDS books available in Kindle format.

The types of FREE publications include Gospel resources published by LDS.org in Kindle compatible formats, LDS General Conference talks, and LDS books which are free from copyright.

Linked books generally include publications from Deseret Book released for the Kindle or books by LDS authors produced by other publishers.

Create your own Kindle books

Amazon provides an easy way to make your own Kindle documents: Use a @free.kindle.com email address.

Documents
This procedure works for the following document types:

Microsoft Word (.DOC)
Structured HTML (.HTML, .HTM)
RTF (.RTF)
JPEG (.JPEG, .JPG)
GIF (.GIF)
PNG (.PNG)
BMP (.BMP)

Support for PDF and Docx is available, but experimental.

Personal approach using HTML on a Mac

Starting with HTML formatted text:
I start by copying HTML formatted text, paste it in TextEdit, save to html, and edit with Smultron to remove unnecessary formatting or spaces.

Starting with a word document:
I copy the formatted text, paste it in TextEdit, save to html, and edit with Smultron to remove unnecessary formatting or spaces.
