The aim of LDS Kindle Books is two-fold:

The aim of LDS Kindle Books is two-fold:
  1. Provide free LDS books to Kindle owners

  2. Alert Kindle owners about new LDS books available in Kindle format.

The types of FREE publications include Gospel resources published by LDS.org in Kindle compatible formats, LDS General Conference talks, and LDS books which are free from copyright.

Linked books generally include publications from Deseret Book released for the Kindle or books by LDS authors produced by other publishers.

Open Books - Sony eBook Reader Envy?

LDSMediaTalk.com discusses the work of Google to publish eBooks and the immediate benefit to Sony's electronic book reader owners. I don't want you to miss out on the impact this has on Kindle owners.

The Open Book initiative will actually benefit Kindle owners if they know how to use epub books on their Kindle. There are two approaches to reading epub on your Kindle. 1) Convert the epub book to a Kindle-friendly format. 2) Install a patch to convert and read epub books on the Kindle directly.

Finding Books

a) Find an ePub book. Use Google's book search. Change the drop down to "full view only."

b) Download the book by selecting "download" and choosing ePub. Note: This does not work with Safari as it modifies the epub file type.

Convert to Kindle Format

Use software such as Calibre to convert to a Kindle friendly format. See instructions at kindleworld.blogspot.com Calibre acts like a catalog and offers the option to convert epub to Kindle friendly formats.

Live conversion of epub books on your Kindle with Savory

As an alternative, you can use a patch developed by Jesse Vincent called Savory

I have personally gone with the former approach, but both are good news for Kindle owners.

Enjoy!
