Amazon just announced that they are planning to incorporate library-lending for Kindles!
This feature is currently available to epub compatible devices at 11,000 libraries - I am pretty excited about this!
Full article is available here.
The types of FREE publications include Gospel resources published by LDS.org in Kindle compatible formats, LDS General Conference talks, and LDS books which are free from copyright.
Linked books generally include publications from Deseret Book released for the Kindle or books by LDS authors produced by other publishers.

Did you know you can lend out certain Kindle books? "Lend eligible Kindle books to other Kindle or Kindle app users. Each eligible book can be lent once for a period of 14 days. Not all books are lendable — the publisher or rights holder determines which titles are enabled for lending."
